The DataBee Set Designer
Bulk Table-To-Table Rule Dialog Box

The necessity of creating multiple rules of a similar format is a fairly common situation in Extraction Set design. The Bulk Table-To-Table Rule dialog box can create multiple extraction rules using a sample rule as a template.

The Bulk Table-To-Table Rule dialog box is started from the Rules Tab of the Set Designer application and generates multiple Table-To-Table type rules. The companion Bulk WHERE Rule dialog box creates WHERE Clause rules in bulk.

To start the Bulk Table-To-Table Rule dialog box first select a template <Table-To-Table> rule from the list on the Rules Tab. If such a rule does not exist then one should be created first. The template rule will be used to create similar rules of exactly the same format - but with variable table names substituted in the appropriate position. Once the template rule has been selected press the Bulk Rule button and the Bulk Table-To-Table Rule dialog box will be visible.

After starting, the two tables involved in the rule (and their join columns) are shown at the top right hand side of the dialog box. The left hand side of the dialog box lists all tables containing the required join columns. These tables are candidates for substitution in the template rule.

At the lower right the Tables in the display consist of... panel provides methods of removing large numbers of tables from consideration through the use of exclusion criteria. Any combination of the available exclusion criteria can be selected. Note: the Refresh button must be pressed to regenerate the table list panel according to the exclusion criteria.

Pressing the Generate Rules button will generate rules, using the template rule as a guide, from the tables selected with a check mark.
