The DataBee database subsetting software is entirely based on a client Windows PC. It connects to the source and target databases via the Oracle standard TNSNames over SQL*Net method. There are NO binaries to install on the server.
The extracted and loaded subset data is never transmitted to the PC on which the DataBee software is installed - all data remains in the Oracle database at all times. The DataBee Applications help file has more information on this topic.
The PC system requirements of the DataBee software are minimal. Most reasonably new Pentium PC's will be sufficient.
- Windows 2000/XP/Vista
- Pentium 1GHz (or faster)
- 800x600 screen resolution
- 500Mb RAM
- 25Mb disk space
- Microsoft .NET v2.0 Framework
- Connections to the target Oracle database can be made via TNSNames over SQL*Net V9 (or higher) or through direct TCP/IP access.
The DataBee software supports Oracle database versions 9i, 10g and 11g on all server side operating systems on which those databases run. Versions of the DataBee software which support Oracle version 7 and 8 databases are also available. Please email us for details.
It is not necessary for the source and target databases to be installed on the same operating system or be at the same Oracle version.
